Bali locals report there are about 10 well-known gay beaches – but their popularity and location shift like the sand.
One has closed recently due to development, and another has emerged near the gay-popular district in Seminyak.
There’s a surf shack and volleyball net on the black and white mixed sand beach named Batu Belig. The Cantina restaurant and bar are the focal point for gays, but the crowd is mixed. The cabanas are nice, there are very few hawkers, and its a nice strip for a sunset stroll, have dinner at La Cantina, and take a taxi back. (Rainbow Tourism Accredited Moon Villas is the closest gay accommodation, about 5 minutes away.
The famous surfer beach is at Kuta. Swimming, surfing and sunset sessions at nice restaurants and bars make this a must-do stop.
Some other favorites for volleyball, cruising and water sports are:
Blue Ocean Beach, and Legian Beach, both north of Kuta. Dreamland Beach and Padang Beach are in Uluwatu, Permuteran in the north, and Amed Beach in East Bali.
Another new destination is in Nusa Dua, called Ge Ger Beach.
