The author of the fairytale book Daniel Haack wrote the children’s fable with gay inclusion in mind. He really wanted to give a voice to the gay community in which sprouting gay children can feel represented and admired as strong loving heroes.
The children’s book provides a much-needed resource that has been well overdue for growing gay boys. The illustrated book allows them to see themselves as normal and acceptable as everyone else.
Prince & Knight starts off like most childhood tales with a prince in search of his princess but as the story progresses the brave prince is found battling alongside a heroic knight a monster terrorizing his kingdom.
The bravery wasn’t the only thing awoken within the noble prince, a deep down trapped feeling was unleashed and embraced by all. The heartfelt story has a happy ending like most all children books.
Author Haack isn’t just stopping with Prince & Knight, the children’s storybook writer is set to release another gay fairytale co-authored by Isabel Galupo in 2019. This time the story (Maiden & Princess) features a lesbian tale.
Author Haack talks about his books and the inspiration behind then on a GLAAD Facebook live sit-down with former Hornet Senior Editor Alexander Kacala.
Prince & Knight has garnered great responses from critics and parents alike. Yes, there have been the naysayers but Author Haack says for the most part he has received overwhelmingly positive feedback.
We’ve seen some of this great feedback for ourselves, especially on Instagram. We can’t help but point out the cutest Instagram post that we found thus far. Papaanddaddy’s, who took the top spot in our Father’s Day “Insta-hottie Gay Dads” article, curled up in bed with their little cutie in just the most precious Prince & Knight post (sponsored post).
